Setup wire tension sensor

Step by step instruction on how to setup the tension measuring sensor on the new wire system S.

Summary

Setup of the tension measuring sensor on the wire system S.

Attention: Usually there are two sensor built into the system. Sensor after the profiling unit and before the wire chopper.

Cause

• Sensor of tension measurement device has been replaced
• Setting of sensor got lost or wire system not working properly

Preconditions

• Mounting block of tension measurement still factory aligned (if not please contact customer support)
• Original sensor used for measuring the distance
• Only qualified staff allowed for setup of the wire tension sensor

Remedy

1.  Mechanical setup of sensor (between sensor and flexure hinge)
   
   Set distance between sensor and flexure hinge to:
   0.5mm ±0.05
   Tighten with nut. Make sure distance stays the same after fixation.
2.  Preparation for teach process
   • No wire pulled in
   • Magnet ready for teach process
3.  Teach process of sensor
   1-point teach analog: compensation for installation tolerances (Setup wire tension sensor.mp4)
   • Hold the magnet to the sensor (>2 sec.) until the LED blinks at 2 Hz.
   • Place the object (in this case the flexure hinge) at teach position
   • Briefly tap the sensor with the magnet
   • Wait 4 seconds until the LED goes out

Result

Sensor teached.

Remark:

Factory setting of sensor in case of wrong teaching process:

Hold magnet to the Sensor longer than 6 seconds until LED blinks with 8Hz.
