Canbody transport motor on CM16/S doesn’t move correctly


Summary

Can body transport motor doesn’t move correctly to the reference position. It stops or changes the direction of rotation suddenly. The display of the servo controller U7 shows „IMax“ or „P03 trip“.

Causes

  • Mechanical condition of the can body transport motor
  • Resolver mounting
  • Resolver bearings
  • Resolver and motor connections
  • Motor winding
  • Output servo controller

Remedy

  1. Turn the transport motor by hand and check that everything runs smoothly.
  2. The resolver must be firmly attached to the motor shaft.
  3. Remove the resolver from the motor shaft and check if the bearing is turning smoothly.
  4. Check if the motor and resolver are connected correctly and clamps/plugs tightened.
  5. Disconnect the motor from the inverter. Check the winding with an ohm meter (U-V,U-W,V-W). All values must be equal.
  6. Measure the inverter output voltage when it should be running (U-V,U-W,V-W). If 0V and the display shows „IMax“ the servo controller may be defective.
  7. Machines with lift table and non-stop: Check the white gear wheel on the encoder shaft of the downstacker motor is secured to the shaft by the M3 grub screw. Make sure that the grub screw is aligned with the flat surface on the shaft.
